Katherine Heigl recently spoke out about growing up within "a white bubble." She also explains the impact that this realization has had on her parenting of adopted children that are multiracial. In an interview with her, Katherine Heigl said recent interview that, in terms of skin color the issue isn't that important. But after speaking to her sister who is adopted from South Korea she realized just the way society views them. Meg was asked whether her treatment was different while they were together with their parents or the time they were on their own. Meg responded "Oh Yes! All the time!" Heigl said to her parents: "That was when I was aware of how foolish I had resulted in me feeling." Her anger grew at the time, and chose to channel her anger into assist her daughters who were adopted by her. Heigl is married to Josh Kelley for 13 years and has a son named Joshua Bishop Kelley Jr. Their child Nancy Leigh was adopted from South Korea by the couple in 2009; Adalaide is an Black 8-year-old girl adopted in the year 2012.
